Plum Pudding

Ingredients

Pudding

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup chopped raisins
  • 1/2 cup prune, dates, apricots
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Sauce

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 1/4 cup butter

Instructions

PUDDING

  • generously grease 4 cup mold
  • in a lagre bowl pour milk over bread
  • mix crisco and molasses
  • stir in remaining ingredients
  • pour into mold cover with aluminum foil
  • place mold on rack in large pot
  • pour boiling water up to the level of the rack
  • cover and heat to boiling
  • keep water boiling over low heat 3 hours or until tooth pick comes out clean
  • you may need to add boiling water during this time but add quickly.
  • un-mold pudding

Sauce

  • combine brown sugar light corn syrup and half and half and 1/4 butter
  • mix in a saucepan
  • cook over low heat 5 min stirring occasionally
  • serve warm
