Plum Pudding
Ingredients
Pudding
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cup soft bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup chopped raisins
- 1/2 cup prune, dates, apricots
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
Sauce
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 1/4 cup butter
Instructions
PUDDING
- generously grease 4 cup mold
- in a lagre bowl pour milk over bread
- mix crisco and molasses
- stir in remaining ingredients
- pour into mold cover with aluminum foil
- place mold on rack in large pot
- pour boiling water up to the level of the rack
- cover and heat to boiling
- keep water boiling over low heat 3 hours or until tooth pick comes out clean
- you may need to add boiling water during this time but add quickly.
- un-mold pudding
Sauce
- combine brown sugar light corn syrup and half and half and 1/4 butter
- mix in a saucepan
- cook over low heat 5 min stirring occasionally
- serve warm
