bring sugar and syrup to the boil
slowly add the whipping cream (about a tablespoon at a time)
do not let it stop boiling
when it reaches softball stage take off the heat and add the butter and vanilla
pour into cookie sheet to cool
cut and wrap into pieces of wax papper
