Ingredients

Ready The Dates

  • 1 cup dried chopped dates
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 4 1/2 tsp baking soda

Remaining Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 cup flour
  • 4 cup All Bran (cerial)
  • 3 cup bran flakes (cereal)
  • 1 quart buttermilk

Instructions

  • mix the dates boiling water and soda and let cool
  • once cool combine with the dry ingredients
  • mix well
  • spoon out as needed
  • may be baked at 375 for 20 min
  • or placed in sprayed with pan and cooted with sugar teacup
  • microwaved 1 1/2 min or until top looks dry
